Furniture, which includes croakery, linen
and plate for the public rooms and offices, is supplied at the public expense, the necessary provision being made in the annual estimates. The Governor also provides his own plate.
The Governor pays 5% per annum on the estimated value of the furniture in the bedrooms, kitchens and other non-public rooms at Government House and Mountain Lodge. This charge amounts to about $300 per annum.
House decorations are partly paid for from the vote Incidental Expenses but the Governor himself expendi about $350 per annum on this item.

Provision is made in the Estimates respectively for coal and electric fans and light, the amounts for 1926 being $600 and $1,600 respectively. In addition the Governor expends about $1,220 per annum for these items including gas in respect of Government House alone.

Provision is also made in the Estimates for certain household servants. Apart from those provided for in the Estimates the Governor employs two chauffeurs, 4 table-boys, 1 hall-boy, 1 personal boy, 1 kitchen-boy, 2 cooks, 9 house-coolies, 1 amah, 1 motor cleaner, 9 chair- coolies, and 1 laundry-man whose wages total $7,160 per
annum.
In addition it is customary at Chinese New Year to give every servant half a month's wages.
This amounts to $350 per annum,

At present the Governor receives no conveyance
or travelling allowance. The estimated entire runing and repair coats together with two chauffeura' wages for the motor cars necessary is $3160, of which $1920 represents
